At Glowing Hearts, we are committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of our clients. As Registered Psychotherapists regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), our privacy practices are compliant with Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and applicable professional standards.

Collection and use of information

We collect personal and personal health information that is reasonably necessary to provide safe and effective psychotherapy services. This may include contact information, health history, clinical information, payment and insurance information, and information required to coordinate care. Information is used to provide and document services, communicate with clients, process payments or insurance claims, coordinate care, and meet legal, regulatory, and professional requirements.

Confidentiality

All information shared during therapy is kept confidential in accordance with PHIPA and applicable professional standards, except where disclosure is permitted or required by law. This may include situations involving risk of serious harm, mandatory reporting obligations, court or legal requirements, or other circumstances required under legislation. Information will only be shared with third parties, such as health-care providers, insurers, funding organizations, or other individuals, with appropriate consent or where otherwise permitted or required by law.

Website and electronic communication

Our website may collect limited technical information, such as IP addresses and website usage data. We may use third-party services for website hosting, scheduling, forms, payments, or administrative purposes. Email, text messaging, and online forms may carry privacy risks. Please avoid sharing sensitive personal or health information through these methods unless discussed with your therapist.

Protection of information

We use reasonable administrative, physical, and technical safeguards to protect personal and personal health information from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, loss, or theft. Client records are retained and securely disposed of in accordance with PHIPA and applicable legal and professional requirements.

Your privacy rights

Under PHIPA, clients have rights regarding their personal health information, including the ability to request access to and correction of their records, subject to applicable legal requirements.
